This years event is held January 31, and February 1, 2026, this signature winter festival brings together skilled pilots, families, and balloon enthusiasts from around Arizona to celebrate the timeless art of lighter-than-air flight.
Festival flights launch directly from the balloon field with participating festival balloons, creating a spectacular mass ascension and an extraordinary journey over western Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun. With clear winter skies and sweeping desert views, each flight offers a perspective you simply can’t get any other way.
No two balloon festivals are ever the same, and the Arizona Balloon Festival highlights the unique beauty of the Phoenix Valley of The sun, the city of Glendale, and the expansive Arizona landscape—making it a truly one-of-a-kind ballooning experience.
Each morning (weather permitting), festival hot air balloon flights are scheduled to launch around 7:00 a.m. Watching the balloons inflate on the field is a show all its own, as brilliant colors come to life against the early-morning Arizona sky.
Once airborne, the balloons rise together and drift over western Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun, creating a stunning display of color above the desert landscape. Flights typically last about one hour, with wide-open panoramic views. After landing, guests are welcomed back to earth with a traditional champagne toast, the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable balloon festival flight in Arizona.
